We went birding to the abandoned areas of Alameda Point (former naval base), and we saw something special: a tiny, fierce-looking merlin on the hunt. Also yellow-rumpled warblers (both Audubon’s and Myrtle types), golden-crowned sparrows, and the first winter sighting of cedar waxwings, one of my favorite species. #Birding #SFBayArea
