As I continue to spend time coding for 8-bit and 16-bit home computers, I find myself wondering what are the things we take for granted today for which there was not enough processing power back then.
I have a partial list:
-compression/decompression (which indirectly includes video).
-encryption
-many modern forms of accessibility.
I'd love to hear other people's ideas in that domain: what was practically impossible 40+ years ago that our computers do all the time now?
