I have read two legal documents this week that absolutely baffled me.

Best case scenario is that the person proposing them hadn't been properly briefed, and didn't realise how inappropriate they were.

Worst case scenario is that they were, and did, and went ahead anyway.

Even if you think that something is a plain, bog standard, legal document, for goodness' sake ready every word of every line.
