Matisse. The Flowing Hair, 1952.
This is art born of disability. He was in a wheelchair with cancer and arthritis, no longer able to paint, so he used scissors to cut out painted cards into shapes. They're some of his most unique and iconic works.
We usually see another more famous version of his Blue Nudes series, but this is my favorite. To me it's a sly take on the Moon, Matisse's Kokopelli. I usually see a rabbit in the Moon but the form is unmistakable, a true human universal.
