I don’t believe it has to or is “supposed to” have such a cost, but I can see how it could, depending on what drives your creativity. If your music or your process draws directly from personal trauma or pain, requiring you always to open old or new wounds, dwell in them and reveal painful secret parts of your psyche, then yeah, that’s going to have a cost. Though it could also have a benefit, I imagine.
