My advice if you decide to update both Ubuntu (from 22.04.5 to 24.04.1) and Mastodon (from 4.1.19 to 4.2.12)? Do Mastodon first, then Ubuntu. A bit of frustration but after random gem upgrades and database migration and tweaks, all is up and operational. Proof? You can read this post.
