I was thinking about this yesterday. The other factors you mention are local, but "global warming"/"climate change" is a *global* "problem", so it "requires" a *global* solution. For the totalitarians that after more and more power this is a perfect narrative, because it grants them *global* power. This is why they are so obsessed with global warming/climate change and they don't care about the other factors.

We don't have to try to reason with them or justify ourselves. Just reject the whole thing for what it is: a *global* power grab.
