replacing the bootloader with linux also always felt a bit discriminatory for non-linux systems >_<
(FreeBSD does have loader.kboot on aarch64 and amd64 now, but it does always feel annoying and inconsiderate when Linux wants to force itself as the de-facto standard for everything, replacing even things that are neutral standards like EFI)
