We've had a few hundred thousand years of language, a few thousand years of written history, and a few hundred years of scientific discovery, which we've both built on for ourselves and caused vast destruction of the species, ecosystems and now climate that made it all possible.

The world as we knew it is all but destroyed. Our species' children will not have a "new normal" to adjust to. It's going to get worse and worse, unless we stop what we're doing, stop extracting resources from natural systems and thousand other things we have to stop. Stop ourselves, and each other. Physically, legally, and civilizationally stop.
