But the framing of the call, as antagonistic to AA, reads like there's less of an interest in frankly evaluating AA and anarchist experiences with it and more of an interest in critiquing it for the sake of some amorphous notion that anarchists will actually organize an alternative. (I, for one, am not holding my breath on that happening.)

I'm an anarchist in recovery and active in AA. It's one reason why I'm still alive. There are plenty of issues with it, though the notion that it is "quasi-religious" is not one of them. It feels unclear what the desired outcome of this zine would be. My biggest concern is that it might discourage those who need help from seeking it out because "AA isn't anarchist enough" or some such claim.

For addicts and alcoholics, this shit is life and death for us, not a theoretical debate. I hope the zine treats the matter with the gravity it deserves.
