npub105ve72qqmjxz08skum2lkds9qkj67689djwwr2a0qkrxts3hqydqm9hk8p (npub105v…hk8p) Not an audio expert, but I think it has something to do with the fact that with air, and in our ears for that matter, the sign waves aren't combined perfectly, because there's friction with the medium, and perfect addition would only result in aliasing issues, so one of the sine waves gets delayed by an imperceptible 2 ms amount or so, or perhaps it's more scattered, so that more time passes between the samples. If the delay is small enough that the ear isn't noticing it, and if you aren't adding the notes computer perfect, probably you're gonna get something like the real world. Also, fun fact, you can't hit two notes at *exactly* the same time, and even if you do, sound gets mangled a bit in the air anyway.
