My whole life, impatient, unaccountable people have told me through their actions that I'm not allowed to say anything, or that anything I do say will be misinterpreted very easily.
Naturally as a child, I became very careful about my speech. Took even longer before saying anything because of the fear of being misunderstood and the desire to be accurate, helpful, or welcomed.
The impatient people didn't like that either.
I tried speaking my mind more promptly and developing the concept as I went along, offering insight as to why they were right about some things and recognizing my own flaws.

I tried sucking up.
