Tell me that your oshi is Fauna without telling me you oshi is Fauna 😂
quoting nevent1q…4lp3My high score as a vegan was 7 years. Here are my lessons learned.
You can be a vegan and be healthy. Ignore posts online from people telling you otherwise. Listen to your doctor and/or nutritionist, not a rando on the internet.
Not every vegan agrees on certain things such as whether or not honey is an animal product. I knew one vegan who would even eat meat as long as they personally butchered the animal. I didn't agree with them using the vegan label, but I did agree that that was the most ethical way to consume meat.
We all draw lines in the sand deciding what types of lifeforms we eat. If you're vegan and think it's okay to eat honey, that's what I call a, "Panera Bread vegan."
Militant vegans are the worst. Be a vegan if you want, but don't be **that** brand of vegan.
It's really bad to avoid fat entirely. I did this with high carb low fat (HCLF) for an extended period of time while I was doing insane cardio every day. Lost a lot of weight when I didn't need to lose any. In hindsight, I think it was starting to get dangerous.
I struggled to eat a variety of foods. I dislike cooking and most of my DIY meals are not very palatable. I'm naturally not adventurous in trying new dishes and I fell into the trap of eating the same thing over and over.
Variety is very important for well being, my doctor has since told me.
I spent a lot of time researching and doing meal prep. Vitamin B2 and Iron supplements were important considerations.
More important was simply eating enough calories every day. When I wasn't getting enough, this led to a vicious cycle of constipation, lack of appetite, and low energy.
There is no good meat substitute. Sure, I found the brands that taste good, but my bowels did not appreciate those ingredients.
My reasons for going vegan had a lot to do with mental health. My belief was that my existence on Earth was a problem, and I had to make up for that by minimizing my negative effects. Eventually I got myself into therapy which is one of the best decisions I ever made.
