If a shoe doesn't fit, you stop wearing it so it doesn't hurt your feet. It's the same with people. If they make you feel bad, you've got to stop trying to force your way through it for whatever benefit you think you're getting out of the relationship.
It isn't worth spending all that energy, and there are plenty of other nice shoes out there that fit better. But it's also not your fault for wanting to try that shoe on in the first place
