My understanding is that it is explicitly cited somewhere in the distant past of telecommunications that it is against the law to alter or falsify the records of calls produced by a telephone exchange. And that, as such, the call records can be relied on as evidence of proof of receipt of information by fax
I've googled and not been able to find anything to back this up. It's just what I've been told by older/wiser ppl
