I'm not really an Ubuntu user, but I installed 24.04 on a new machine to try it out. Looks like SNAPs are spreading everywhere nowadays, so the only sane way going forward is to snap remove --purge everything and then remote snapd and apt-mark hold snapd to keep it from being re-installed. And then you can finally breathe normally. Or you know, just use something else like Mint or Pop_OS! if you want a Ubuntu-based distro, I guess.
