Unlike media companies, marketing companies saw the writing on the wall in the early days of the web. Which is why they've all pivoted to some combo of web development, SEO, and reputation laundering. To paraphrase the Wizard of NZ, they're careful not to believe their own bullshit, and they know that the traditional ad industry is dead.
