A former friend who got sucked into covid conspiracies is now trying to dox me and is making blog posts linking me to criminalized anarchist projects. Which is obviously concerning, but honestly my main feeling is grief.
He was a friend and comrade for about ten years, someone who struggled a lot but who I thought had a good heart and good intentions. Watching him go down the conspiracy rabbit hole was hard, but I always kinda figured he would snap out of it at some point, and I wanted him to have a community to come back to when he did.
So even after he got called out publicly for his reactionary views, I tried contacting him to see if he was OK... And am now getting rewarded for it.
I don't regret being open and giving people chances. We all mess up and deserve some grace. But I definitely feel like a bit of a fool in this case. Folks warned me, I just didn't want to believe it.
