in a prolonged war there's usually a lot counterfeit cash, and really crazy things happen to exchange rates to fund war efforts, governments do things like suddenly switch the legal tender, etc, there is no stability in a war scenario

that said, sure... having some low-tech means of exchange that works without internet connectivity is useful to have, it's absurd that everything so easily disrupts in the case of a network outage

say, a while ago i wanted to take the bus from the airport but the its payment terminals weren't working... and they have a "no physical cash" policy... so the driver just refused to take anyone 🤷‍♀️
