I quite like your ideal cafe. I just wonder whether someone hasn´t already built it, under the label of a "coworking space"?
(OK, maybe not with table service)
In a way, this reminds me of the Deutsche Bahn lounges at major stations. They´re apparently designed with the fact in mind that I just want to pass the time agreeably, rather than chat with friends; so it´s much less of a social setting than most cafes.
