Instead, I would tell them that:
- it will cost them extra for me to do it
- I can't guarantee success or stability
- If something breaks, it will cost extra to fix
The only time I would turn down a client is if they want you to do something you are not qualified or allowed to do, often you can refer them to someone external, eg. the manufacturer.
If they want you to do something stupid, let them give you their request in writing, but I suppose you already know that. 😉
