In all seriousness, earplugs are an essential when they develop peak decibel capacity at around three, especially if you’ve already had some
hearing loss.
You can’t *not* be in close proximity when (e.g.) changing a wailing child but you *can* increase the prospects of being able to hear your future grandkids at their Christmas concert.
