Switching people from the closed corporate platforms to decentralized social media networks is a collective action problem. People lock each other in by continuing to be active there, especially celebrities and journalists and corporations and governments.
But we have a strategy for defeating lock-in. It's the #kickstarter model. We get people to commit to doing something if other people commit as well. Can we organize something like that for the #fediverse?
