Helpful tip for men writing female characters: washing bloodied clothing/fabric in hot water cooks the protein into the fibre, making the stain permanent.
Women tend to have a fair bit of experience in getting blood out of things, so unless you're trying to make the point that the character is a sheltered aristocrat who's always had servants to deal with the inevitable, go for a cold rinse/soak.
