I run a full node on a tiny RaspberryPi 5 that is basically the dimensions of a credit card. I do it because when I think of what Satoshi gifted to the world (and me), I think it's the LEAST I can do to help keep his gift going strong and into the future. Paying it forward.
If you've been into Bitcoin for any length of time and investment, throwing ~$150 (or less if you have an old PC laying around with some decent storage in it) to run a node is a no-brainer.
And I'm equally sick of all the 'purist' crap about running a full node ONLY. I think it's great to do if you can; it helps the new guys get the full chain all the way back to the genesis block. But I sure as hell don't turn my nose up to anyone running pruned. They are doing what they can to contribute - voluntarily. That's how this whole things is supposed to work.
Let us not forget: "Perfection is the enemy of good."
