Thank you for filling me in on this bit of history. I hadn't realized your academic background, though we have shared some thoughts about this troubling church/state monolith. I grew up Presbyterian and attended a conservative Baptist seminary, but also an MFA program based in Catholic aesthetics. Anyway, thank you for your post and response.
