What does the UK's habit of selling out to foreign firms cost it?
If you regard ARM holdings (the designer of cutting edge semi-conductors) a strategically important firm then its being (majority) owned by Softbank, Japan, might be a concern.
But, also Softbank bought 90% of ARM for £24bn in 2016; now (with a market of that remaining 10%), it is valued at £1110bn - so on paper at least Softbank has quadrupled its investment in eight years.
In a sense, that's the cost
