the spaces protocol white paper has a section on renewals. Renewals are a big area of concern for me since I think it severely limits self-sovereignty if one has to further engage and potentially pay to continue to use -- how do the rates get set, can they change the rules, who decides? The white paper indicates “renewals ensure active utilization of names.”
I’d bias toward more sovereignty of names even if it comes with the tradeoff that some names fall into disuse.
