The tenancy portal could be co-managed with Kāinga Ora, who already hold a database of tenant information. When people fill out the digital form, there could be a simple tick box to request a place in public housing.

Kāinga Ora staff deciding who gets to lease an empty public house could have access to data on how many rentals a person is viewing and applying for, and how difficult they're finding it to get one.

I shudder to think who property managers might be selling that data to now.
