RIP 💔

this installation/gallery was opened when I was 12 years old, i have spent so much time in this space, and saw it from beginning to end. kinda hate to say i was attached to this work because i spent a lot of time wishing basquiat was given a space in this building, but i was, especially when they reduced the paintings to one large painting installed on the south wall and painted the walls baby pink and left the orginal ceilings alone 💕

this past year I stopped by quite frequently after tours walking by on fridays and saturdays when they opened the space and I just loved the feeling of being in that space, i will never forget it…but never once did I take a photo 😭
(regret that now ngl)

so i had a dream a few months ago that I was with basquiat and warhol in NYC going to different clubs + galleries in the 1980s and it felt so real, then i woke up, and started going there more.

but they closed it down and this week removed the paintings and i am still trying to let it go, i can’t believe i actually wish it was permanent.


but is anything actually permanent?
