One of the many reasons the rushed and badly managed re-branding of twitter was a colossal mistake from a marketing standpoint is the google search results you get from the new name and the old.
"Twitter" returns exactly what you'd expect from a social media website. The homepage of the website itself with helpful links, company information, news articles, wikipedia articles about the social media company, etc.
"X" returns mostly information about a low-budget horror movie, trailers for said horror movie, and a band which is apparently called X. The only result (which is admittedly the first) for the actual social media site is the twitter account @x which from the google search results doesn't even look remotely official.
That's what throwing away nearly two decades of brand recognition so that you can finally live out your bizarre teenage dream of being the owner of X looks like lol
