There was a small learning curve if I recall but I feel like that's more of a feature than a bug. Making something not completely easy filters out a lot of people who won't make many efforts in thought and practice in various aspects of their lives. It reminds me very much of the Usenet days in the 1990s. You had to have a certain level of brain power to just figure out how to set up your modem, find an ISP, figure out a whole bunch of other things...
To put it bluntly, I'd rather avoid places that make it easy for people to come running with their Johnson out and start, you know, "contributing".
