The message of Conan the Barbarian is, it turns out, that the barbarians are the true nobility. Bowing to no man, upholding their own ideals truly without superfluous attachments, knowing which things in life truly are the best: love, freedom, honour, revenge.

For nobility is not about how much we can gather, or how much power we command. It is not about our birth directly, though understanding and living up to your birth is part of nobility. A man can be born of ignoble spirit to supposedly noble stock. And the things he covets enslave him and reduce his nobility of spirit.
