Plant as soon as the last frost and continue until 2-3 weeks before temperatures reach the 90s (32°C+). July plantings will grow but may only reach an inch tall before flowering and won’t grow significantly after that.
Seeds don’t require cold-stratification, but those from the same season generally don’t sprout if immediately replanted. To trick seeds, cold-stratify for a few weeks and plant in mid-August if you have a long enough growing season for a fall crop.
