Uh, well my concept is similar to how I've heard other people using the word, and is one that I believe to be useful and worthy of consideration. Generally how language works.

My definition is something like this: a right is a rule that can be broken by others for their own benefit, but not without becoming dependant on the right-holder. I like this definition of "rights" for a few reasons. First of all, I find that this concept is one that very often greatly simplifies my thought process when trying to evaluate how people should treat eachother, and when considering how to be a stronger person.

Secondly, this definition matches a lot of common negative rights, such as property or privacy. Property for example is an object that is recognized as depending on the property owner in order to exist and/or provide benefit. Therefore, any rule the property owner creates for the treatment of their property, especially concerning how others may benefit from it, would be considered a property right by my definition.

And thirdly, this definition highlights how others can come to owe something to the right-holder, by virtue of depending on them for some potential personal benefit.
