The main difference is that we've always saw all movies/series with original sound and subtitles, and then we all learned English very early in school, Brasil and Spain for eg they dubbed a lot of American media and they are very protective of their language/culture, Lisbon has always been a place with people from abroad and a mix of cultures, we are used to try and speak other languages to help out, even Spanish have a hard time with PT portuguese and we understand them.
