💯

Me and my wife lived in Norway in 2020 and we saw how the social climate changed. I'm Swedish and she is Polish by the way.

When I talked to union representatives at my workplace, they showed no concerns about masking regulations or experimental vaccines. I was not a member of the union but they absolutely were not able to sell me the idea of joining them. Most colleagues would give me a skeptical look when they learned that I had not taken the mRNA injection.

One colleage was sent to hospital after he had heart arrhythmia, which culminated 2 weeks after his second Covid shot. He had never been sick from work in his life before this. At the hospital they restarted his heart and told him it was a normal procedure. He said to me afterward that he would not have any more injections.

I also learned that the Norwegian military had knocked on cabin houses (hytter) in the mountains and forced/coerced the residents to move back to the cities during Covid. This made zero sense and it was apparent that the authorities were not afraid of Covid at all. It was a spectacle with deeper, authoritarian motives.

Even worse, the authorities had abolished individual property rights with this pointless exercise. The authorities claimed that the local infrastructure in the mountains could not support people getting sick, while ignoring the rights of citizens to use their property as they deem fit when they needed it. They were voluntarily social distancing in the bloody mountains! Norwegians know very well how to fish, hunt and hike in the mountains.

If you can't access your own mountain cabin in a situation where you believe you and your family are in danger, then what is the point of calling it private property in the first place. Of course Covid was not particularly dangerous, but the citizens had all the right in the world to use their own damn cabins. It made me furious to debate this with colleagues at work who sheepishly supported the government overreach.

Then by autumn of 2021, several cities in Norway announced Corona Passports. My wife knew the spouse of a bus-driver and the drivers had been asked to demand corona passports on busses, but the bus-drivers had flatly rejected this suggestion, honorably. When Corona Passports were announced we were worried that we would be shut out of society as unvaccinated. I would rather lose my job than to inject the harmful spike protein. My wife's brother in Poland were told to either take the mRNA injection or lose his job. He took two shots iirc. Luckily he has been fine so far.

As soon as the Norwegian borders opened up, me and my wife left Norway, only to hear that Russia and Ukraine were suddenly at war just as we were leaving. Now there is a risk of Poland going to war in the coming years and we might end up with closed borders again.

When the war started my immediate reaction was that this was a continuation of the Covid authoritarianism, under a new excuse and banner. Several individuals in Poland who have questioned the war with Russia have been imprisoned. In Sweden, people working in critical infrastructure are disallowed from leaving Sweden or switching jobs, since last year, due to war preparedness plans. There have been motions from the EU to classify individuals as dangerous anti-European traitors based on their opinion of wanting to end the war with Russia.

Owning Bitcoin and having access to Nostr has been a great source of security during these times. I hope that Europe can recover over time and pull itself out of authoritarianism, yet the risks of war escalation are present. Borders can be shut at any time.
