Ah, I see your confusion here. Yes, if Damus was like Google or Meta where there was a massive server infrastructure behind it that you had to recreate if you wanted to make a new client then forking Damus would be difficult. Fortunately this is not the case. Relays don’t care what client you’re using. Damus from the App Store and my personal copy of Damus with a few tweaks applied can connect to exactly the same relays and have the same experience. You don’t have to rewrite the whole stack. That’s why there are so many high quality clients already being developed.
