Ugh. Today in "welp, I didn't need that shit in my life", it seems the owner of popular open-source software Mastodon instance FOSStodon has shit out a particularly contemptible blog post titled "On Virtue Signalling".
I don't want to drive traffic to the post, but to summarize, he lists out various companies and projects that have been "cancelled" on account of abject bigotry from their leadership (i.e. the Brave browser), and then immediately launches into basically every right-wing talking point you've ever heard about this, from "separate the art from the artist" to "pick your battles".
I'm wary of anyone telling me to "pick [my] battles", especially if they're implying I should drop one particular issue, because odds are high they just want me to pick battles that don't implicate them quite so directly.
I wouldn't care much except that my own FOSS project lives there, and really there's no ignoring what a shithead the owner is now. Welp, there goes my morning.
