Hanif Kureishi is still bed bound and mostly paralysed after an accident a bit over a year ago. I've signed up for his little articles on this...it's heartbreaking to read, yet his writing is as incisive and entertaining as ever. A piece on what it's like to be constantly handled, touched, prodded, washed etc today is exactly what it's like being a 'patient' and everyone who's a carer of any kind should read it and digest it.
