Yeah there is a huge gap between tech bros and creative types in this space. Trust me creative people (video, music, art, games, etc) want to use free software but its often inferior and we are an afterthought. Granted there are some exceptions like Mixxx, which is the best DJing software ever made in my opinion and makes Serato and Reckord Box look like dogshit corpoware.
I think the problem isn't laziness, people just want there shit to work so they get on being creative, and have to follow a 3 page tutorial on github to get something trivial working is a huge turn off.
