Last week, my sisters and I said goodbye to our father. I spent the first week of the year holding his hand in hospice; showing him videos of his grandchildren. The clip of the unmasking when my niece dressed him in drag brought him so much joy.

I said goodbye on Monday and flew home on Tuesday.

He lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Thursday. Mom and BIL were by his side.

We are glad he is no longer in pain, and that dementia helped make the pain forgettable.
