It's analogous to medical researchers proposing to fight skin infections by having nanobots with lasers flying around the bloodstream zapping bacteria. What could go wrong?

Surely it's better to clean and seal the wounds that are letting the infecting bacteria into the body. Restoring the integrity of the skin, and allowing the immune system to do its job. Supplemented as necessary by conservative use of topical antibiotics while the skin heals.
