I can see that. But maybe he sees an opportunity and a way to stay relevant. After all who exactly is using Facebook? Younger gens aren’t. I think Zuck bought Instagram to stay relevant. Bought Oculus to stay relevant. So perhaps with Thread it’s the same with the additional intention to move eyeballs from Instagram (which has a younger more adaptive audience using multiple platforms) to grow it. When I joined Thread I could choose to follow the same ppl I follow on Insta automatically.. ‘making it easy’ for me. I imagine many will choose this option with an end result of ppl not losing their followers… which is kinda smart. You don’t need an invitation they saved a spot just for you if you have an Instagram account.
As far as being a Twitter clone.. the vibe is different/fresh and the UI is better. Content is a little more imaginative aesthetically. Could be just a honeymoon phase tho.
All this being said I’m not a Zuck fan. Privacy is an issue. And I still like it here! I just think there are takeaways from Thread.
