so confused by people who say things like "the unwritten rules of fedi say you can't link to a youtube video/link to a page belonging to a corporation/say good things about something that's earning a profit because if you do someone will reply to tear you a new one"

i do those literally all the time. i shill my own stuff, for profit, literally all the time. i have shilled my own youtube videos

i don't know if our instance mods are just so amazing or if i'm just that shameless nobody even bothers trying to tell me off anymore or what but i totally do not have this experience whatsoever

and i'm not saying other people are lying, i just don't understand why their experience is so radically different from mine when i so shamelessly and constantly do the things you're supposedly not allowed to do here
