Well, “energy exporter” in the context of renewables usually means “it’s exporting electricity in bursts that on average, during the year, exceed its imports”. What is missing from the picture is that renewables force you to find an electricity importer because electricity produces must be received somewhere. This occasionally creates negative electricity prices where you’re actually paying people to receive your electricity, because otherwise it will do work on your devices and wires (read: burn them). The second piece of the puzzle missing is what happens when you’re not exporting, which is most of the time - you need either imports, or a nuclear power plant, or storage… or you get blackouts.
