AFAIK, the original postulation goes back to the root of the original action, or rather: “intention”. The counter can’t do any measuring unless an intelligent being *decides* to put that counter there. The action of the intelligent being does not need to be immediate, it can be intermediate such that the measuring even happens a long, long time later. The only issue is that an intelligent being decided, at one point in time, to do the measuring.

The problem with all this is that it is extremely difficult for me to actually express in English what all those scientists wrote in German so long ago. I could articulate the intricacies of the language and the words they used and what each really meant in German, but really struggle to do so in written English.

Most of QED and Heisenberg, Max Planck, Einstein et al is best understood in original German.
