rendering is the process of creating images based on input data, whether that image goes directly to your monitor or to a separate display program (that is then displayed into your monitor from a different, less powerful gpu) doesn't change anything, what matters for performance is which gpu *renders* it, not which *displays* it (which is what you actually meant by rendering)
