Morteza Samadi Labafi was one of the leaders and prominent members of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization, particularly during the period of the organization's ideology shift in 1354. He, along with Mojtaba Shariq, insisted on his Islamic beliefs, which were the original approach of the organization before its shift to Marxism. This led to a disagreement with the organization's main leader, Taqi Shahram. Wahid Afra'ati, a member of the Mujahedin-e Khalq, was assigned to assassinate Samadi Labafi, but he failed. After the unsuccessful assassination attempt, Samadi Labafi was arrested and, along with Wahid Afra'ati, Seyyed Mohsen Khameshi, Minoo Ashrafzadeh Kermani, Mohammad Ta'ir Rahimi, Mohsen Bathei, Sasan Samimi Behbahani, Morteza Labafi-Nia, and Abdolreza Maniri Javidi, was executed on November 11, 1354.
