Part of that was to make sure your inverter appears on the CoCT approved inverter list ( for exactly the safety issues mentioned).
And then inspections and registrations etc.
But, that "wisdom" might need updating 🤷♂️
My installation is "proper", but I'm actually not sure about my registration status.
sidewalk meter is that bladdy conlog kak, that already gets hella upset if some stray wattage goes the wrong way when a big load suddenly turns off.
I also understood their stupidly expensive 4quad meter was only needed if you actually wanted to feed into the grid
